And with heatwaves sweeping across most of the UK, are any other areas at risk of a hosepipe ban too?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When is the hosepipe ban?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also known as a temporary use ban (TUB), the Southern Water hosepipe ban is in place from <strong>21 July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A hosepipe ban for Yorkshire came in on <strong>11 July<\/strong> after the region had less than half the expected rainfall in spring.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Yorkshire Water, reservoirs are only 55 per cent full and action must be taken to protect their water supply. Check if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorkshirewater.com\/bill-account\/moving\/are-you-in-our-supply-area\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Yorkshire Water is your supplier<\/a> if you\u2019re not sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hosepipe bans will also be enforced on <strong>18 July<\/strong> for households across <strong>Kent<\/strong> and <strong>Sussex<\/strong>, following an announcement from South East Water.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And from <strong>22 July<\/strong>, the Thames Water hosepipe ban will come into force, affecting people in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Wiltshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The temporary restrictions stop people from using a hosepipe to water gardens and plants, clean cars, wash windows, and fill paddling pools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not following the rules can lead to a fine of up to \u00a31,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is my business exempt from the hosepipe ban?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ban only applies to domestic use, so businesses are exempt from the hosepipe ban as long as the use is for commercial reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you use a hosepipe as part of your business services to customers, you\u2019re still allowed to use it, even during the temporary use ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hosepipe ban exemptions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use a hosepipe for your business if you\u2019re:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">watering a garden or land that\u2019s used by a business for growing any crops, fruits, vegetables, or other plants for sale or commercial use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">providing cleaning as a service to customers, including cleaning private leisure boats, windows, paths, and patios<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">washing taxis, goods vehicles, or commercial vehicles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">filling or maintaining a water fountain if it\u2019s used for recognised religious practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">filling or maintaining a domestic pond when it\u2019s for the welfare of the fish or aquatic animals in the pond<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">cleaning other artificial outdoor surfaces \u2013 if it\u2019s part of a service to customers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is there a hosepipe ban in my area?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hosepipe bans have been announced by the following water companies: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorkshirewater.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Yorkshire Water<\/a> (11 July)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southeastwater.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">South East Wa<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southeastwater.co.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">ter<\/a> (18 July) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southernwater.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Southern Water<\/a> (21 July)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thameswater.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Thames Water<\/a> (22 July)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s best to check directly with your water company to find out if your postcode is affected by a hosepipe ban. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In England, the East Midlands, West Midlands, North West, and Yorkshire are in drought, according to the Environment Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of the rest of England is in a state of prolonged dry weather, which is the stage before an official drought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A hosepipe ban is enforced differently across the country, and the rules and restrictions can vary.
